Being in a stuck state espouses an inability to move, to progress, to grow and this leads to feelings of confusion, anxiety, frustration, depression. Oftentimes, this state may even be accepted as a “comfort zone” because it’s a case of being comfortable with a known discomfort rather than exploring unknown territory, and so your personality and identity becomes defined by your “comfort zone’’.

Underlying the disability to move is usually a limiting belief and is easily identified by asking the question, “What stops me from migrating to a better place?”. The fact is that nothing changes if nothing changes and the choice and decision to change lies within you.

Like with any other change you make, certain dynamics come into play. Thus, once you have decided to move from the stuck state, you need to decide where you want to move to and then do a deep dive into all your inner resources and choose which of your hitherto unused resources you need to utilise to make the change.

The fact that you have all the resources you need to move, to progress, to growmakes this an easier, even exciting journey. Remember, when you were little, and you didn’t know how to move or walk or talk? You had no limiting beliefs and each day was an adventure of learning how to move from a state of inability to a state of ability and nothing daunted you; you were fearless. If you fell, you simply picked yourself up again, however unsteady you were, and continued your path to your destination, one baby step at a time.

Moving from one state to another is a journey that requires patience, understanding, self-love and mindfulness and, to make it even more enjoyable, a sense of curiosity and adventure. Once you have made the decision to move from your stuck state, awhole new experience awaits you and being patient with yourself affords you the opportunity of being more observant, both internally and externally. From your observations, you will gain a better understanding of yourself and your engagement with your surroundings. Of course, you are then able to stop and smell the coffee or the roses, whichever suits you best.

As you continue this journey, it is inevitable that a sense of curiosity arises in youabout how best to navigate this journey to your advantage. This is when all the recently discovered or recovered resources become most useful and the journey becomes easier, as you discard your limiting beliefs and embrace empowering beliefs. You realise that moving is easier than you thought and that the comfort zone is overrated.

Returning to the question, “What stops me from migrating?” It is the fear of the unknown, the belief that what you don’t know won’t hurt you. However, this belief also prevents you from gaining more knowledge, experience, insight and wisdom. It stunts your growth.

The choice to move rather than stay and endure the discomfort is yours. The decision to move is also yours. Remember the age-old adage ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained’? Embracing this motto makes it possible to leave behind the stuck state and embrace the journey of transformation, empowerment and progress.

Bon Voyage!
